About

Jeff DouglassMy name is Jeffrey Douglass and I live in San Diego.  I am a native Californian but grew up in Guam from 1968 through 1976.  During the early years of my life I had the opportunity to travel to far off places like South America, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Paris, and a Tramp Steamer through the Micronesia.

My education has mostly been the school of hard knocks, but I did graduate from Fresno City College with an Associates of Liberal Arts degree and then some Business focus at Fresno State.  A significant path change in my life lead to working with my Father in the commercial janitorial business for over 11 years, never completing my formal education.

One day while working on a large automatic floor cleaning machine which was not running, I tried to remove the battery cables with a wrench and the lead plates in the battery broke and shorted exploding the battery acid in my face.  Rushed to the emergency room I realized I had to find the passion in my life.  Luck would have it I was wearing contact lenses at the time which saved my eyesight.  It was one of those life flashes before your life moments.

Deciding I had a strong interest in Real Estate I went back to school and got a salesperson license in early 1990.  Talking my way into an agency that normally did not hire new agents, I arrived just in time for the real estate market to slide into the dumpster.  During this period I worked in REO (Bank Owned Properties) and Subdivision Sales, and general re-sale.  I left Visalia for San Diego in 1999.

Working in the Rancho Santa Fe luxury market I moved into Sales Management and then into Branch Management.  I was the Branch Manager of 7 offices over 175+ agents in Rancho Santa Fe during this time until the original founder of the Company left, and with him most of the old guard was let go, one by one, over the subsequent years.

Having recently purchased my “dream” home in Downtown San Diego, I found myself without a job and facing some serious health issues.  This was during the period where the real estate market was melting down, real estate sales transactions were in short supply, and I was in heavy debt.  Needless to say, like many people, I was one of the players, that did not have a place to sit down when the music stopped.

Another decade had past and I found myself starting over again in late 2008.

Some dark days lay ahead for me through 2010 which tested me in every was possible.  Only now at the writing of this post am I finally able to look back and understand while the process was horrible, it opened up new opportunities, and my future is once again bright.

Someone asked me during this time that I must feel like I was marching through Hell and what was I going to do?

I told them I was going to keep marching until I got to the other side.

My passion continues to be real estate and all the aspects of the industry.  Currently I own and operate a “virtual real estate brokerage” called RealtyV2, consult for real estate companies, and am intrigued by Social Media and the changes it is bringing to our world.

The purpose of this blog is personal and includes my broad interests across the world.  I read around 300 blogs a day and this is a place where I can collect them into one location.  There is not one theme or topic, like my life, it is a collection of random thoughts, videos, quotes, and pictures.

I would love to have you join me for my journey.  Also please feel to connect with my on Twitter @jeffreydouglass.

If you have an interest in Real Estate I do my best to educate and offer ‘spin free content” over on my blog at SanDiegoJeff.com.

Finally if you are having trouble sleeping, a trip over to my Linkedin account should solve that, LOL.
